Home-schooled students should have the opportunity to play in public school sports if they choose to because they pay taxes, need recognition, have limits, and are sociable. In half of the states in America, there is a bill that now allows students who are not educated at a public school to be a part of the sports offered at a public school. These home-schooled students go through several struggles when fighting for their right to compete on a public-school team. The families of students who attend a public school are worried about how the addition of home-schooled students to the sports would affect their children. In today’s society, individuals feel that home-schooled students should be on home-school teams, but those teams do not give the students an equal opportunity or chance to be noticed by college scouts and recruiters. The students should not have to deal with the consequences of not being able to be in sports because their parents decided that they wanted them to be educated from home. Also, the stereotype is that if a child is homeschooled then they are antisocial and do not have the social skills needed to work and compete with others. Little does society know that home-schooled students are able to socialize with individuals who are not their own age, unlike a majority of the students who attend public school. Students who are homeschooled deserve the opportunity to participate and compete on public-school teams and other activities at a public school.
